I started out with a Nikon D3200 in High School, where I discovered the fun of photo making and began to hone my skills. A couple years later, I decided to study Photography at NAU in Flagstaff, AZ, where I realized I had no real niche, no subject to act as my muse, and no money. This rather unfortunate realization was actually necessary, as it allowed me time to think. So there I was, May of 2021, having left Flagstaff for Colorado so eager to escape that I was already halfway into my trip when I received my final grades. I had earned a degree in Mathematics, with a minor in Photography! Anyhow, that's not important, especially due to the weather report I stumbled upon that morning while camping near Boulder, CO: "High risk of severe weather in central Kansas due to a strong cold front". Suddenly remembering old dreams I raced down the mountains, marched into the plains, arriving just in time to experience a massive supercell emerge from a few smaller storms. I saw a funnel cloud, golf ball sized hail, and felt the buzz of static from the insane, multicolored lightning show. I took a couple interesting, but not usable photos with the old D3200, enough for me to know I had found a muse and a niche. Now, I am giving it a go for real, with a D810 this time, and no rush to do it properly. Oh, and, I suppose, I dabble in other styles of Photography too, why not.

Time Lapses: Coming Soon!

After seeing some beautiful timelapses on YouTube, I felt inspired to try it out with my weather shots. Though planning and timing become trickier on location, I get to see what the clouds are doing sped up more than one hundred times from live "speed"! Also, as a bonus, I have significantly improved the odds of a great shot for any one subject (though this limits variety in photoshoots).
